2019 "Mae" Rosé
Napa Valley
Named after Hersly winery dog Mae, “Mae” Rosé is a lovely rose of Merlot from a small, private vineyard in Calistoga (Napa Valley). “Mae” Rosé is processed whole cluster, direct to press, making it a fuller bodied rosé. After starting fermentation in stainless steel, mid-fermentation half of the wine is moved to neutral oak barrels. From the words of a very respected sommelier in NYC, “this is by far, the best rose I have had!” With notes of strawberry, white peach, raspberry and cranberry, this rosé also has a hint of floral notes. It’s a deep structure for a rosé, and not a typical high acidic rosé, but no sweetness, just fruit. There is a round mouth-feel that blurs the edges. A wine that is easily paired with food, or perfect on the patio with friends.
